Let’s Welcome Genesis’ New Assistant Program Coordinator

We would like to give a warm welcome to Amelia Comer, the new Assistant Program Coordinator for Genesis Pathways to Success.

Amelia will assist in supporting and advancing the mission of Genesis by developing community partnerships and expanding experiential learning opportunities in Ripley County Schools that will provide exposure and career readiness for students.  She will also assist in the development and implementation of high-quality program content, such as the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest and A Summer of STREAM, in addition to helping with marketing and advertisement for programs and projects.

It’s About Time for Lunch at this Year’s Rube Goldberg Competition

This year’s Rube Goldberg Competition is set for Saturday, March 4th at Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School. Middle School and High School teams will compete to build a creative chain-reaction contraption that will Build a Lunchables.

Will students be building ham and cheese crackers or a cheesy pepperoni pizza? Save the date (March 4th) so you can come see what these teams design!

Additionally, we rely upon passionate volunteers to help oversee the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest. If you would like to volunteer and serve as a judge, referee, or scorekeeper, please contact the Director of Genesis, Clarice Patterson.

Ripley County Robotics is Advancing Teams to State

Ripley County Robotics teams have been busy this season as Ripley County Schools have teamed up to provide VEX Robotics Competitions to students in Southeastern Indiana. Competitions have been held at Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School and Milan Middle School with two more planned in the coming months.

Through these competitions, students work collaboratively with students from other teams to complete this year’s game, Slapshot. Competitions serve as a springboard to enhance what students learn in practice and expand upon their collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills. These local competitions have helped advance two Ripley County teams to the State Championship.

Furthermore, the Southeast Indiana Robotics League is in full swing with the final competition scheduled for February 21st. This final competition will determine the teams that will compete in the State Championship. We want to extend our best wishes to all the teams competing for a State spot!
