The Results Are In and Lunch Will Never be the Same!

The 12th annual, regional Rube Goldberg Machine Contest took place on March 4th at Jac-Cen-Del Elementary School. Teams competed to Build a Lunchables through a series of chain reactions that left the judges hungry for more.

Awards for the 2023 Rube Goldberg Machine Contest included:

  • Division I 1st Place: St. Louis Catholic School

  • Division I 2nd Place: Salem Middle School

  • Division II 1st Place: Ripley County Engineering Academy

  • Division II 2nd Place: Oldenburg Academy

  • Most Rube Goldbergian Award: Ripley County Engineering Academy

  • Best Use of a Slinky Award: Batesville High School

  • Most Innovative Way to Start a Machine Award: Batesville High School

Thank you to all teams that participated in this year’s contest. These zany contraptions built a variety of Lunchables including sandwiches and pizzas. It was a great turnout and a fantastic competition for all!

The Side Hustle Series Kicked Off with Iron Timbers

On March 2nd, Genesis: Pathways to Success, the Batesville Chamber of Commerce, and the Ripley County Chamber of Commerce hosted the first session of The Side Hustle Series at Amack’s Well Coffeehouse. The Side Hustle Series is designed to provide an entrepreneurial series where successful business owners connect with new entrepreneurs to share advice about developing their side hustle into a career. The first session featured our good friends at Iron Timbers, Dustin, Gary, and Caleb Payne, who shared their entrepreneurial journey and explained how they developed their passion for woodworking, carving, and metalworking into their dream job.
