GEER Grant Awarded to Ripley County Schools

Congratulations to the Batesville Community School Corporation, Jac-Cen-Del Community School Corporation, Milan Community School Corporation, Oldenburg Academy, South Ripley Community School Corporation, and St. Louis Catholic School on receiving $250,000 from the Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Grant. Genesis: Pathways to Success was pleased to work with the schools on this proposal, which will provide network connectivity to students located in low income households and/or living in rural areas where internet access is limited. The GEER Grant will give students reliable internet access to the network connectivity needed to ensure that they won’t fall behind in their studies during distance or remote learning.

Rube Goldberg is Pouring Boxes of STEAM

Have you ever heard the saying, “Life is like a Rube Goldberg Machine because you never know what comes next?” Well, Rube Goldberg lives true to this saying because the corporation is always surprising followers when they least expect it. On September 9th, Rube Goldberg Inc. announced the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest task for 2021 is to, “Shake and Pour a Box of Nerds.” They’ve partnered with NERDS Candy to provide the first 100 teams with free registration!

However, Rube Goldberg’s biggest and most recent announcement arrived late last month when the worlds of Rube Goldberg Inc. and Minecraft collided. The two companies partnered and are bringing students a Digital Rube Goldberg Machine Contest with the Minecraft Education Edition. Contestants will have to create the six simple machines: the wheel and axle, the lever, the inclined plane, the pulley, the screw, and the wedge. Students will have countless opportunities to enhance their STEAM skills and have so much fun, all while playing a video game. Best of all, this year’s contest is free to all teams!
