Spinning Wheels While Learning About Nutrition

Kids Riding Bikes returned for it’s third consecutive year in Ripley County. This year, Nine13sports visited six schools including Batesville Middle School, Jac-Cen-Del Jr./Sr. High School, Milan Middle School, South Ripley Junior High School, St. Louis Catholic School, and St. Nicholas Catholic School. The program was delivered to approximately 1,152 students.

Kids Riding Bikes is a program that provides students with a bike riding experience via an interactive indoor bicycling simulator that utilizes technology to gamify the experience of riding a bicycle. Students were able to see real-time statistics showing data related to their speed, power output, distance, and time, while learning about the importance of good nutrition. Students categorized food into the five food groups and learned how difficult it can be to ride a bicycle when exposed to bad nutritional habits.

How Do You Build a Rube Goldberg Machine?

Ever wonder what students have to do in order to create those zany contraptions used to accomplish a Rube Goldberg Machine Contest task? Join this year’s Regional Contest participants as they explain what it takes to build a Rube Goldberg Machine. Learn from them first hand as they speak about the obstacles they encountered and how they used skills like communication and collaboration to persevere and build machines that would Build a Lunchables.
