The Genesis Archives: Interns
I had naught without the Genesis: Pathways to Success blog posts. My soul was ripped from within me the day I left last year. For a fortnight, I laid awake at night quivering and weeping, afeared that I shall never return. Amidst my caliginous state, I knew that henceforth I shan’t be without that what makes me whole: blog posts. For aeons, I excogitated my return, and thus, on this morn, I return to ye full of vigor and zeal. I am overbrim with joyance and gaiety, athirst to moil for the glorious Baroness of Genesis, Clarice Patterson. I send all glory and laud unto thee. Cometh with me ye merry few as we canter through A Summer of Stream.
Genesis: Pathways to Success, is excited to announce their summer interns for 2024: Abe Streator, Cayden Pohlman, and Rebekah Porter. These interns will assist in the marketing, development, and implementation of Genesis programming.
Abe Streator, a returning intern to Genesis, will serve as the Marketing and Communications Intern. In this role, Streator is tasked with the marketing and execution of Genesis’s summer programming through writing and distributing press releases and blog posts, assisting with social media, and aiding A Summer of STREAM (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, & Mathematics) camps.
When asked about what encouraged him to return to Genesis: Pathways to Success, Streator stated, “When I was in middle school, I would have thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to take part in many of the camps Genesis offers. From Harry Potter to construction trades to cooking, these camps hit every facet of interest. Furthermore, through these camps, I can have an impact on a cause greater than myself by helping to teach our local youth the importance and power of their imaginations and showing them that their interests can help them achieve great things.”
Streator is an incoming junior at Indiana University-Bloomington where he is pursuing a degree in History. Outside of the office, he enjoys playing board games, watching movies, and is an avid basketball fan.
Cayden Pohlman will serve as the Program Development intern, in which he will work on the development and implementation of educational and entrepreneurial programs. These programs include The D.I.C.E Challenge, Emerge: Young Innovators Summit, and Side Hustle Series. These programs work to support local businesses and encourage entrepreneurship in young adults in Ripley County.
In an interview, Pohlman stated, “Genesis has the tools and programs to help promote entrepreneurship in young adults through the D.I.C.E Challenge and Side Hustle Series, which are of great interest to me. I am a strong believer that giving high school students the platform and ability to develop a business around an idea they are passionate about, while also giving them tangible experience in marketing and formulating a business model, is tantamount to the success and promotion of future business owners.”

Pohlman currently attends Ball State University where he is pursuing a degree in Professional Selling. He enjoys golfing and hanging out with friends.
Rebekah Porter is the Creative Content Intern. In this role, she will aid in the creation of photographs and videos for social media, in addition to assisting with A Summer of STREAM camps.
When asked what attracted her to Genesis, Porter stated, “Genesis has given me the unique opportunity to combine my love of content creation with my passion for community. Being from Greensburg, I am unfamiliar with many parts of Ripley County, and Genesis allows me to expand my network and impact into a larger community. I am excited to share my talents and passions with others through A Summer of STREAM.”
Porter is an incoming senior at Indiana University-Bloomington where she is pursuing a degree in Public Relations with a minor in Sports Marketing and Management. In her free time, she enjoys reading and hanging out with friends.
“We are very blessed to have these young adults join our staff this summer. Aligning with Genesis’ mission and programming efforts, they will provide unique perspectives and fresh ideas, and their knowledge, skills, and passion will be an impressive addition to the philanthropic sector,” stated Clarice Patterson, the Executive Director of Genesis: Pathways to Success. Patterson further noted, “Genesis: Pathways to Success and the Ripley County Community Foundation prides itself on providing high-quality and meaningful internships for college students by allowing them to gain practical experience while applying their skill sets learned in the classroom and fulfilling their passions. The Genesis Team is looking forward to spending our biggest summer yet with these talented individuals.”
